On being inspired…

Ever since I bought my camera and enrolled in photography school, I have been fighting the inspiration demon. He comes in waves. For months, even years, the camera can live in its bag, only being taken out when needed. When required. The photographer takes pictures, but feels inspirationally dead inside.

And then one day, the light will be magical and you will pick up your camera because you feel a need to do so. Or another photographer will talk about shooting everyday for yourself. For your own growth.

And the camera will no longer feel like a camera. It will feel like a tool. A tool to unlock that which is inside you.

And you will slip around mountains, and focus in the rain. And book shoots that inspire you, full of mud and light.

And you will find a different photographer inside you. A photographer waiting to fight the inspiration demon. This time he won’t take it away from you again.
