Exist in Photos – Thetis Lake Portait Session

My friend Bunny asked me to take some photos of her. She’s in a transitional stage in her life, which is a great time to document. But honestly, anytime is a good time to document. Own your life.

I love moody black and whites.

Thetis on a sunny day is the best for photos.

Go walk out on the log and straddle it. Ha. Love when people just say “ok Shari”.

Bunny is the cutest.

Also kind of a ham.

But always gorgeous.

I always do walking photos. Sometimes towards and sometimes away. I think people are more relaxed when walking. And when in transition in life, a walking away photo is just a great metaphor.

I also love epic photos. 🙂

“Stop. Turn around. Look at me.” I’m going to be honest. I hate posing. It looks unnatural and awkward on most people. I try to get more natural photos showcasing your personality.

Bunny is a bellydancer so she wanted some with this really colourful scarf. She is also a thrift shop lover, which is where she found it.

There is something about this one.

Originally Bunny asked for a bikini session. We ended the session rocking the bikini.

HAWT!

I think the above picture is my fav from the session.

So I’m about to rant. So often I hear that people want photos but they need to lose 10 pounds, or they don’t want to be in the photos — “just the kids”. No. No. NO! Exist in photos for your kids so they can remember you at this stage in your life. Exist in photos for yourself. Own your story. Society tells us that we need to look a certain way in photos and it makes us critical. Of ourselves. Of our life. Fuck that. You and your life is worth photographing. Now. Not in a “perfect” future time. Now is the perfect time.

And I promise to make it painless. You might even enjoy it. 🙂
