Saanich Fair Family Storytelling Documentary Photography

The Saanich Fair was celebrating its 149th anniversary this year and what better way to celebrate than to see the fair through youthful eyes. Its so easy to be jaded at my *ahem* age but the games and prizes suddenly seem super exciting when viewed through the eyes of a 2 and 9 year old.

And I mean, look at those eyes.

So, full disclosure, my first few images are usual crap. I need to warm up, ya know?! But this was the first shot of the day. *BAM* Doesn’t hurt when you have a little girl who is so sure of herself.

The ring toss. I’m pretty sure its impossible to win at this game, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to try.

Fishing.

Everyone wins a prize!

A little fist bump with dad before they fly.

Who doesn’t love the carousel?!

Hi Dad!

His dad was giving G tons of advise before he went, but G didn’t really need it. #nailedit

The guy running the hammer thing was awesome. Full of energy.

I heart the ferris wheel, but this family didn’t want anything to do with it lol.

Taking a break on dad.

Such a good big brother, he gave the hammer to his little sister.

Taking a moment out to gamble.

On to the animals!

I love this one. You can tell she is saying Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Baby mooos.

This thing was a big hit. I guess “milking” a cow is fun.

This sheep was huge. G was awestruck.

Cute sheep.

Getting hot and cranky. You know how it goes. This fair was during our heat wave here in Victoria.

Watching a juggler.

I’m not sure why, but I love these bouncy house pictures.

These things are hilarious.

Dying after the ball race.

Mmmmmm berries.

Mom said “Awww, they are truly amazing!! Thank you so much Shari!”

Can I say how much I love documentary storytelling sessions. I want to show your family as they truly are, not posed in clothes you rarely wear. I hope that when Anya and Tim look at these photos in the years to come, they will say, “that is so our kids”. That is my goal with every session. Want something like this for your family?
